Building a Shared Future: How Wernick Group Engaged Colleagues in its Vision 2030 Strategy

When the Company’s Group CEO wanted to launch an ambitious "Vision 2030" strategy, he knew that for the vision to become a reality, it had to be owned by every single colleague. Enthuse supported him to launch and deliver an interactive, company-wide roadshow that fostered shared understanding and genuine excitement for Wernick’s future. 

About Wernick Group 

As a national provider of permanent and temporary modular buildings, site accommodation and off-grid power solutions, the family-owned, 90-year-old Group, operates from over 40 depots and divisional offices across the country with more than 1,000 employees. 

The Background 

The challenge was to ensure the new five-year plan felt like a shared evolution, not a top-down directive - reaching every corner of the business, from the depot yard or factory floor to the divisional offices. The core objective was to create a shared understanding and excitement about this new direction, clarify how colleagues could play their part and to provide meaningful opportunities for everyone to contribute their own ideas, working towards collective success.  

Bringing the Vision to Life 

We provided comprehensive support to Wernick, developing a strategic engagement plan that would ensure the Vision 2030 launch was successful and helped to maintain momentum across the year. We worked in close partnership with the CEO and Head of Marketing to deliver a campaign that was inspiring, clear, interactive and most importantly, that reached every colleague at Wernick allowing them to have their say. 

Our support included: 

  • Campaign strategic approach:  We ensured every activity was purposefully aligned with the goal of building understanding and commitment. 

  • Communication Workshop:  We ran an interactive workshop with representatives from different businesses, to further understand the vision and the barriers we would need to overcome, helping us shape the roadshows.  

  • Key message narrative:  We translated the high-level strategic pillars of Vision 2030 into a simple, powerful story that every colleague could see themselves in, ensuring the ‘why’ behind the change was as clear as the ‘what’ and ‘how’ Wernick would achieve the vision. This story took centre stage on the company intranet, where a new landing page was created for Vision 2030 articles. Here, colleagues could be on the lookout for updates and see how their suggestions were being turned into actions. 

  • Communication Plan and content writing:  We created the communications roadmap for the campaign and developed supporting content to ensure a compelling and continuous drumbeat of messages. With the majority of the workforce not having access to email, we took on the challenge of making sure that everyone had the opportunity to get involved with the Vision 2030 Roadshows. Post-roadshow, online, bite-sized content was developed for non-attendees and new starters to ensure the Vision 2030 roadshow was accessible to all.  

  • Setting everyone up for success: From shaping the CEO's presentation to developing manager briefing packs and a teaser campaign so that leaders and team members were prepared for the events, a consistent Vision 2030 communication drumbeat also ensured everyone was informed and empowered to play their part, bringing the vision to life. 

  • Monitoring colleague submissions and feedback:  We established a clear process to capture, monitor and understand the valuable input from colleagues, encouraging genuine two-way conversation. Closing the feedback loop, we provided updates about the roadshow on the intranet, via the printed newsletter to reach non-desk-based colleagues and conversation prompts for team meetings. This ensured that colleagues could see their ideas and suggestions were being heard and acted upon. 

The Outcome: A Clearer, Shared Commitment

The Vision 2030 roadshow was a major success, building tangible excitement and a shared commitment to Wernick Group’s goals.

By turning a corporate strategy into a series of engaging, two-way conversations and demonstrating to colleagues how their ideas were shaping the business, the roadshow created immense support and a clear line of sight for every employee to the Company's future. Over 1,000 ideas were generated by colleagues, with 90% attendance at the in-person roadshows.   

  • eNPS increased from +36 pre-roadshow to +55, a +19 point improvement for this single initiative, demonstrating genuine engagement. 

  • Post roadshow, exit survey feedback showed a +58 percentage point increase in employees understanding the company vision, rising from 36% pre-event to 94% after. 

In Wernick’s latest engagement survey ‘I understand the purpose of Wernick’ was the highest rated question, demonstrating engagement beyond the roadshows.
