Mentoring with Andrea Law

There are plenty of people in your organisation who will tell you what needs doing. A mentor is someone who helps you figure out how to do it - and who's genuinely in your corner while you do.

Internal communication is one of those roles where you're expected to advise everyone else, navigate difficult conversations, keep leadership happy and bring employees along for the ride - all while somehow managing your own professional development in the gaps between everything else.

It's a lot, isn’t it? And quite often, it's quite lonely, especially if you’re the only IC person in the organisation.

Whether you're fairly new to IC and finding your feet, or you've been doing it for a few years and know you're ready for more, having an experienced and completely impartial person in your corner makes a real difference.

I've spent over 25 years working in internal communication and employee engagement, across organisations of every shape and size. I know what it feels like to be the person everyone comes to - and I know what it's like to have no one to go to yourself.

That's why I find mentoring some of the most rewarding work I do.

What we work on

Every programme is shaped around you, but the things that come up most often include:

  • Getting clear on where to focus your energy - and feeling confident saying no to the things that distract from it.

  • Building stronger relationships with your stakeholders and leadership team.

  • Finding your voice as a strategic communicator, not just a delivery function.

  • Working through a specific challenge you can't easily discuss with your team or your manager.

  • Planning your next career step, whether that's a promotion, a change of direction or simply feeling more settled in the role you're already in.

How it works

We work together over eight one-hour sessions, online, at a schedule that fits around you.

Before we begin, we have a proper conversation about what you want to get out of the programme and what success looks like for you. Everything we discuss stays between us.

Who funds it

Mentoring is frequently funded by employers as a professional development investment, and I'm happy to help you make that case to your organisation if you need support with it. If you're considering funding it yourself, let's have a conversation - it's worth exploring what works for you.

Andrea’s mentoring and support have significantly boosted my confidence and I’ve greater clarity about my role and what I want to achieve as a strategic internal communicator. Now that I’m feeling more qualified to do the role, I’m able to take a step back and delegate activity across the team. I’ve definitely evolved in the role, feel more organised and I’m bursting with ideas to implement.

Ready to have a conversation?

If you're curious about whether mentoring might be right for you, the first step is a short, no-obligation call. There won’t be a hard sell, it will just be an honest chat about where you are now, where you want to get to and whether this feels like the right fit.
